Very rarely will you see me write about food, unless it’s something related to dessert…(I always remembered how to spell desserts because when put backwards it spells ‘stressed’…how fitting). Yesterday however, I was in the mood for something easy/healthy/delicious and decided on Kale chips. Kale is a superfood. It is high in Beta-Carotene, an array of vitamins, and is bursting with cancer-fighting properties. Boiling it takes most of the nutritional value out of it, but baking does not. This yummy snack takes a maximum of 20 minutes, and you won’t feel guilty for finishing the whole bowl!
Preheat your oven to 400. Simply wash the Kale (thoroughly) and pat dry with a paper towel. Remove the ribs and slice into thinner pieces, because Kale can be difficult to chew since it’s so rough. Drizzle a tiny bit of olive oil onto the baking sheet before spreading the Kale onto it. Once you’ve evenly distributed the Kale onto the sheet, this is where the fun begins! Typically, I season my Kale chips with olive oil, sea salt, and black pepper. If you prefer a different taste, add Parmesan or Paprika.
Bake 15 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Allow them to cool, and enjoy!
Sidenote: I paired the chips with this full-bodied and fruity organic Chardonnay. Together, they complimented one another incredibly well!
